Glasshaus XVIII

Resident artists Ewa Wawrzyniak, Jon Lewis, Yuki Kokai, Muna Zuberi & Margery Lovatt will be joined with guest artists from JUST GLASS https://www.just-glass.co.uk/

The Just Glass Society formed in 2003 at Richmond Art College, SW London, to enable students and their tutors to exhibit and meet at seminars on a biennial basis. At the time, although the level of teaching and quality of work was equivalent to university courses, admission to most glass art exhibitions was limited to undergraduate and graduate students.  Those learning kiln formed glass in local authority adult education classes were missing out.  We have since held 12 exhibitions in prestigious venues such as Pitzhanger Manor Ealing, Orleans House Gallery Richmond, The Espacio Gallery Shoreditch and, in 2025 at The Morley Gallery in London SE1 where we will return in 2027.  Over the years, members of Just Glass have gone on to study glass at all degree levels with some becoming teachers in university and adult education centres. Some have become internationally renowned, teaching at Pilchuck and Corning in the USA and Bild-Verk Frauenau in Germany, exhibiting in galleries and shows in America, China, Japan and many European countries, as well as showing in previous Glasshaus Exhibitions at Parndon Mill. Just Glass aims to provide equal opportunity for new and emerging glass artists to exhibit alongside more established members; this is always appreciated by our visitors who are inspired by the diversity of the work to buy pieces made by artists at all stages of experience with glass.

The Just Glass biennial exhibitions show work in kiln formed glass only but many of our members work with other glass techniques and Glasshaus XVIII will enable members to show their blown and sand cast glass (mostly made with Parndon Mill glass artists), as well as leaded stained glass, alongside the kiln formed works.

Just Glass is entirely separate from the Contemporary Glass Society (CGS) and other glass art organisations.  The book, Just Glass Brought to Light published in 2021 tells the journey of Just Glass and forty-five of its members richly illustrated with their work. The book was published with the support of the Worshipful Company of Glass Sellers of London.
